Joseph Mallord William (J.M.W.) Turner R.A. (1775-1851) used a variety of signatures and monograms.
He sometimes wrote out his name and other times he just used his initials. Turner is a highly forged artist, so a signature may not mean that the painting is authentic.
Turner had such a long name that he generally abbreviated his first names as "J.M.W." He also sometimes used all initials "JMWT." Turner often wrote in a formal and decorative cursive script.
